Mark Rashid Merchandise - DVD's & bits

About Mark Rashid
Mark Rashid has committed himself since youth to finding quiet but effective ways to work with horses. As seen in his books, Mark conveys his lessons in a practical, concrete manner - but with feel and understanding for the horse.
Working in America, Europe, the UK, and Australia with a multitude of breeds and riding disciplines, he focuses on what is happening on both sides of the horse/human relationship and how the rider can clearly communicate while building trust. His work is useful to all disciplines.

DEVELOPING SOFTNESS IN THE RIDER

Another DVD in the final edit stages is DEVELOPING SOFTNESS IN THE RIDER. In this DVD, Mark demonstrates several exercises for ways in which riders can develop softness in themselves and then be able to present that to their horse. He demonstrates with several horses the effects of softness in developing communication, and presents some practical applications of the information presented. It has a running time of one hour, thirty minutes.

GROUNDWORK - VOLUME I TROUBLESHOOTING

In this, the first in a series of groundwork DVDs by Mark, he works in the round pen with two horses that were deemed “hard-to-catch” by their owners. Mark brings a low key, low stress style of round pen work to each horse and quickly helps them understand the idea of being caught. He also shows ways to graduate from the round pen to a large open area when working with a hard to catch horse.
In addition, Mark troubleshoots the reasons for both horses’ lack of willingness to want to allow humans to approach and catch them, while at the same time addressing issues such as working with the “one sided horse” and picking up the feet of a horse who is hard to trim and shoe.
The running time is one hour, fifteen minutes.

UNDERSTANDING FOOT-FALL and INFLUENCING MOVEMENT

Mark Rashid has spent most of his adult life studying equine and human biomechanics, physiology, psychology and movement and has put those studies to practical use in his work with horses and riders.
In this DVD, Mark Rashid helps viewers understand their horse's footfall and cadence by showing them how to determine when each individual foot is moving and where it is going. He then goes on to show how to use this movement to the rider's advantage during training and riding.
Mark also covers a number of issues that can interfere with the movement of the feet and how to avoid interfering with the horse's movement.
1h 30mins playing time.

GROUND DRIVING DVD

Mark Rashid takes viewers through the steps he uses when introducing horses - whether the young untrained horse or the older more experienced horse - to the art of ground driving.
Covered in this DVD are ways to help desensitize a horse to driving lines, ideas on how to help the handler become more competent when using driving lines, starting a horse on the basics of longeing, and continuing on to more advanced longeing. He then goes on to demonstrate ground driving (including turning, stopping and backing) in both a halter and bridle.
Also included in this DVD is a bonus section on how to braid your own driving lines!
Running time: one hour, thirty minutes

'FINDING THE TRY' DVD - A Key to Communication Between You and Your Horse

Originally released as a 3-tape video series, this DVD shows Mark working with three different horses developing some horsemanship basics (halts, backing, turns on the forehand, turns on the haunches, sidepasses, impulsion, collection, etc.) while always seeking to show the viewer how to Find the Try.
Mark focuses on what is happening on both sides of the horse/human relationship and how the rider can clearly communicate while building trust.
His instruction on communication involves always searching for the least amount of cue or pressure possible. Key to this is recognizing the horse's earliest tries to respond, because finding and building on these efforts allows the horse to learn faster with less confusion and struggle. Hence . . . Finding the Try. In two specialty sequences, Mark first works with a two-week old foal on some basics on handling, haltering and leading, illustrating how the same principles of Finding the Try apply from the first horse-human interactions. Then Mark demonstrates in close-up the kind of feel in handling reins needed to help a horse (and rider) succeed.
Running Time: three hours, five minutes

Rockin "S" Bits
The Bit has a 5" & 5 1/2" snaffle mouthpiece (4 1/2" and 6" available soon). The cheek and 'D' rings are stainless steel. The cheek rings float independent of each other and the 'D' rings, so the cheek rings will always maintain the same position relative to the side of the horse's head and can not 'twist' or dig into the side of the mouth. The reins attach to the floating 'D' rings. The cheek rings spread the pressure over a larger area around the corners of the mouth and prevent the 'pinch' that a standard 'O' ring snaffle bit produces by squeezing the lips between the bars of the jaw and the bit itself when rein pressure is applied. All bits are quality handcrafted by Reinsman Equestrian Products.

When properly used, the result has been a more relaxed horse with increased responsiveness. This bit is for the horsemen who strive to work their horses more productively and without annoyance.

The results experienced from this bit will vary depending on the individual horse. No returns. Defective bits will be replaced.

Rockin "S" Snaffle Bit
3/8" Sweet Iron Snaffle

This Bit was designed to decrease the discomfort at the corners of the horse's mouth. This bit will not pinch. The extra 3" rings at the end of the mouthpiece float independently to disperse the pressure across the lip and cheek making the horse more responsive to the riders cues. Attach the rein to the floating D ring outside the cheek rings. The mouthpiece is large enough to allow the rider to tug on a horse without injuring the bars.

5" two-piece snaffle £50.50

5 1/2 " two-piece snaffle £55.50
